Houmapalooza

Combine 10 local bands and over 10 hours of free original music and you have a recipe for the first of what is expected to become an annual event. Houmapalooza.

Sponsored by the Houma Regional Arts Council, 10 aggressive indie bands will converge upon Houma’s downtown Court House Square on April 16 beginning at noon. Each band will have roughly an hour to perform their original material. The genre will vary, from alternative to pop to rock. There will be something for everyone!

Houmapalooza was created to help spotlight local talent and to raise money for the Houma Regional Arts Council through the sale of cold drinks, beer and food.

“Our mission is to promote and provide cultural activities across the region,” says Glenda Toups, executive director. “We re-grant money back to organizations and provide seed money to tons of others in support of the arts.”

Band Schedule

Good old-fashioned word of mouth was used to garner interest in this event among local musicians. This particular group was chosen based on their focus on original material, not covers. Most of the bands have either recorded an album or are in the process of recording.

Bring your lawn chair and settle in for a full day of great music! For more information, please contact the Houma Regional Arts Council at 985-873-6367 or grants@houmaterrebonne.org.
