Get in the spirit of Halloween by visiting your local library. Libraries throughout Terrebonne Parish are celebrating Halloween all month long with special programs for all age groups.

Activities for little ones, ages 3-8 years old, include pumpkin painting, a puppet workshop, Halloween craft workshop and story time. On Thursday, October 14 at 4 p.m. children can bring a pumpkin to paint at the Bourg Branch Library. On Saturday, October 16 at 2 p.m. children can enjoy a scarecrow puppet craft workshop at the East Houma Library. A Halloween craft workshop will be held at teh Main Library at 3 p.m. A special haunted “boooooks” story time will be held at the Chauvin Branch on Thursday, October 21 at 5 p.m. The Dularge Library will host a Halloween story time on Monday, October 25 at 3 p.m. “Trick or Treat Story Time”, the grand finally of October events will take place at the Main Library at 3 p.m. on October 31.

Pumpkin carving, a Halloween craft workshop and cupcake decorating are some of the activities the library has planned for your “tweens,” ages 9-12 years old. On Saturday, October 9 at 2 p.m. “tweens” can enjoy a craft workshop at the East Houma branch. On Thursday, October 21 from 4-5:30 p.m. a pumpkin carving workshop will be held at the Bourg Library. Children of all ages can attend a “wiggy” Halloween craft workshop at the Montegut Branch at 4 p.m. on Thursday, October 28. A Halloween cupcake-decorating workshop at the Grand Caillou Branch is planned at 4 p.m. on Friday, October 29, however, registration is required.

Workshops and activities for teens include movie madness, Halloween crafts, Wii games, a scavenger hunt and pumpkin painting. The Monster Movie Madness 2010 Film Series complete with popcorn and a drink will be held each Wednesday at 6 p.m. The movie line-up includes “The Haunting in Connecticut,” “Darkness Falls,” “Stay Alive” and “1408.” On Saturday, October 2, the East Houma Library will have a Bayou Bandanas craft workshop at 2 p.m. The Dularge Library will host a Halloween craft workshop and will have Wii set up to play on Friday, October 8 at 3 p.m. On Tuesday, October 19 from 4 - 6 p.m. the Bourg Library is having a musical scavenger hunt. The Gibson Branch will have the Wii game “Just Dance” set up on Wednesday, October 20 from 4 - 5:30 p.m. Teens are invited to bring a pumpkin to paint at the Chauvin Library on Wednesday, October 20 at 3 p.m. On Saturday, October 23 at 3 p.m. the game Movie Mania Jeopardy will be played and snacks will be given out at the Main Library. On Tuesday, October 26, teens can bring a white t-shirt to tie-dye from 4 - 5:30 p.m. at the Montegut Library.

Adults are invited to join the fun this Fall with special workshops for them. Registration is open to attend a fall centerpiece workshop at 11 a.m. at the Gibson Library on Monday, October 25. A story-sharing program about “Things that Go Bump in the Night” is planned for Tuesday, October 26 at 7 p.m. at the East Houma Library. On Wednesday, October 27 at 6 p.m. at the Main Library, A Moment in Time Scrapbook group, which is open to the public, meets to create scrapbook pages with the pictures they bring. Finally, adults are invited to bring a pumpkin to paint at the Bourg Library on Friday, October 29 at 11 a.m. and enjoy a potluck lunch.
